Kinshasa, April 3rd, 2025 (CPA)- A morning of prayer to restore peace in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been organised on Wednesday in Kinshasa by the National Coordination of Women of the United Bloc for the Renaissance and Emergence of Congo (Burec), during the closing of Women’s Month.
<< We have considered that it is important to support ourselves on one of the fronts developed by the President of the Republic Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, in this time of war, it is the spiritual front, i.e. imploring the grace of God for our nation, so that our country recovers peace and the much sought-after National Unity.>>, has declared Bibi Kasongo Kabibi, President of the Women’s League of Burec. And she added: << This is why we have chosen to be together today, to understand during this morning the importance and impact of the spiritual front in a country at war, such as DRC >>.
She has taken this opportunity to implore the Most High God based on the book of Jeremiah 29: 7 which says: « Seek the good of the city where I have transported you, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, because your happiness depends on his« , adding 2 Chronicles 7: 14 which says: ‘If my people, on whom my name is called, humble themselves, pray, and seek my face, and if they turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land’.
For her, the women of Burec are concerned about the inhuman and degrading treatment suffered by displaced women and girls, whose most basic rights are systematically flouted. Ms Kasongo has indicated that, through this activity, they have expressed their political commitment to a lasting peace process, because this long period of crisis characterised by multiple armed conflicts must now be brought to an end, because these armed conflicts only bring underdevelopment to our nation.
On the other hand, these wars have only brought grief and disarray to homes, shaken the foundations of the nation, dehumanised the Congolese people, destroyed the country’s economy and sold off the integrity of the national territory,’ she has made clear. For his part, pastor Gode Mpoyi, who has led a conference-debate during this morning of prayer for peace and national cohesion, has developed the theme: « importance of the spiritual front in a country in times of war: the case of DRC ».
