Kinshasa, May 10th, 2025 (CPA) –More than seventy (70) film productions based on European and African realities are scheduled to take place in Kinshasa and throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as part of the 9th European Film Festival, the organizers have announced on Friday. ‘This year, 70 productions will take place in Kinshasa and in the interior of the country. The programme will not only showcase the diversity of European cinematographic production, but also that of the African continent, and in particular the DRC’, has declared Françoise Balais, cultural delegate for the French Institute of Kinshasa (IFK), at a press briefing co-hosted with the European Union ambassador to the DRC, to mark Europe Day 2025. She has pointed out that this year’s event emphasized unity in the diversity of themes, genres, nationalities of directors, etc. ‘We are united in diversity.’ ‘We are united in diversity. In fact, there is no theme this year. Diversity is the theme of controversy. Controversy is created to promote cultural diversity. So for the 9th festival, we’ve based our programming on this idea. In other words, diversity in the themes of the films, the directors and their nationalities’, she has explained. ACP/
