Kinshasa, May 3rd, 2025 (CPA) – The athlete from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Michaël Kunga, has painted his performance at the African wrestling championship, held in Casablanca, Morocco, from April 29th to May 4th, the CPA learned on Friday in a video posted on its social pages. ‘In the first fight, my opponent was physically strong, but not mentally or technically. That’s why I beat him,’ said Michaël Kunga, a wrestler from the DRC and one of the Congolese medallists in the competition. ‘The second man also had physical strength, but no technical arguments. And the same was true of the third,’ he explained, adding: ‘The last one had all the trump cards, but I was better than him. That’s why I won in the end’. He also asked the other wrestlers not to give up and to continue in the same vein for the honour of the national flag of the DRC, which must be carried very high.
8 medals for the DRC
Michaël Kunga was one of the wrestlers who, along with Noëlla Madundu, won two gold medals for the DRC. Up to Thursday, the Congolese had won a total of 8 medals, including 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
