Kinshasa, June 17th, 2025 (CPA).- The export of chilli peppers and palm oil, products mainly produced by women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, could create small millionaires, CPA has learned on Tuesday from official sources. « Many Congolese mothers produce chilli peppers. They can start preparing now. Once trained, they will be eligible to sell their products in China. This is a particularly important aspect because it could lead to the emergence of small millionaires among those who seize this opportunity. We have also obtained a guarantee that all these transactions will be 100% free of charge, » has declared Gregoire Mutshail Mutomb, Minister in charge of Agriculture and Food Security, at N’djili International Airport on his return from China.
For the Minister in charge of Agriculture, these agreements represent considerable progress, through a process that began with a study of customs conditions and product technical specifications. ‘We must now work in collaboration with other colleagues in the sector, particularly those in foreign trade, to implement these agreements,’ has added the minister.
The chilli peppers, palm oil and other products can now be exported to China. Gregoire Mutshail has indicated that he had met with several partners interested in agriculture in the Democratic Republic of Congo for agricultural development, starting with the production chain, training, processing and marketing.
The Minister in charge of Agriculture and his colleagues from the Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Ministries have participated in the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha, China. The aim of the expo was to join hands to advance modernisation and build a community of shared destiny.
