Kinshasa, April 9th, 2025 (CPA) – Basic necessities and several items have been handed over to flood victims following the rain that fell on the night of April 4th to 5th in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, an official source told us on Wednesday. “We have handed over sugar, milk, bread and other items (…) to flood victims housed at the Tata Raphaël site after the rain that fell during the night of April 4th to 5th in Kinshasa”, said Nathalie Aziza-Munana, Minister in charge of Social Affairs, National Solidarity and Humanitarian Action.
According to her, this initiative is part of national solidarity. Ms. Munana promised the urgent involvement of the Congolese government in resolving the situation. The Minister in charge of Social Affairs also announced that the victims of this natural disaster would soon receive a rental guarantee from the central government. The torrential rains that fell in Kinshasa during the night of April 4 to 5 caused significant material damage and loss of life, particularly in the Tshangu district and the municipality of Mont Ngafula. Many families are now homeless.
