CAF Champions League: unveiling of the new trophy on May 22nd

Kinshasa, May 18th, 2025 (CPA).- The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced on Thursday the ceremony for the unveiling, on May 22nd, of the new trophy of its Champions League, CPA has learnt on Saturday from the website of this continental sporting body. ‘The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with its partner TotalEnergies, is announcing the unveiling of a new trophy and a renewed visual identity for the prestigious CAF Champions League,’ it is read.

The source has even specified the exact date of the ceremony. ‘The ceremony will take place on Thursday May 22nd (…), in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the presence of two emblematic figures of African football: Tsholofelo “Teko” Modise and Ahmed Hassan, both former winners of the competition, whose careers illustrate the excellence of continental football’.

This landmark event, according to the CAF website, reflects CAF’s ambition to take a new step in enhancing the value of its club competitions. The introduction of this new trophy and its graphic identity is part of a wider strategy to modernise and strengthen the brand image of all its tournaments. The unveiling of the trophy, whose features and design presented in detail at the ceremony, has been planned two days before the first leg of the Champions League final between Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and Pyramids FC of Egypt, scheduled for Saturday May 24th.
