Kinshasa, May 2nd, 2025 (CPA) – The under-20 Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Black Stars of Ghana have been scheduled to meet at Suez stadium in Egypt on Friday on the first day of group C of the African Cup of Nations (U20), according to the competition schedule. According to the source, the match was scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time (19:00 Kinshasa time). The Leopards of the DRC, who have not been regular enough in this competition, will be taking part for the third time, after their last appearance in 2013. In each of their campaigns, the young Congolese hopefuls have seen their journey come to an end at the end of the group phase. This time, coach Guy Bukasa, who qualified them after the DRC’s participation in the Union of Central African Football Associations (Uniffac) tournament in Brazzaville, will have the imperative task of reaching the second round, if only, before looking ahead to the next stage. To do so, the DRC’s national team will first have to show its first face after the training camp in Tunisia against Ghana. The Black Stars of the Gold Coast are reputed to be regulars at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, with 13 appearances, making Ghana the second most successful country in the competition with 4 titles (1993, 1999, 2015 and 2021). While the Ghanaians have already written their history in this tournament, it is now the turn of the Congolese to do the same in their first match. Before this clash between the DRC and Ghana, the public at the Stade de Suez will first have to wash their eyes with the second duel in Group C, between Senegal and the Central African Republic, scheduled for 16:00 Kinshasa time (18:00 Suez time). This African competition, for footballers under the age of 20, began on April 27th, 2025 and will come to an end on May 18th.
