Consultations: A former presidential candidate agrees to work with Tshisekedi

Kinshasa,  April 2nd, 2025 (CPA) – The political player and unsuccessful candidate in the last presidential election, Théodore Ngoy, has agreed to work with Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi in the search for solutions to bring peace to the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on the sixth day of the Political Consultations in Kinshasa.  ‘We are going to put an end to the current crisis together, as one man and working with the President of the Republic’, he said, after discussions with the Special Adviser to the Head of State, Eberande Kolongele. Speaking about the causes of the war of aggression in the east, Théodore Ngoy dismissed out of hand the reasons put forward by the Congolese involved in this warlike adventure by Rwanda and its army, as well as their M23 auxiliaries who carry out massacres and violence of all kinds on a daily basis. ‘Nangaa cannot tell us that he is the solution to the Congolese problem. All those who are with him are in the service of those who want to exploit our resources without giving us anything, without paying us anything’, he said, before adding: ’You must not believe in these people. You must not believe in the man who says that he is the author of the crisis, and who says that he is the one who is going to put an end to the crisis’.

Théodore Ngoy also condemned the awarding of ministerial and other posts as ‘war bonuses’. ‘I would like to say to the Congolese people that we cannot support the idea of giving posts as war bonuses to those who take up arms against their own country and justify the aggression. I would like to say that we cannot accept Sun City being taken over today, in order to distribute power to others, to the so-called armed opposition and others’, he said, before calling for “the Congolese State to put the pieces back together, restore national unity and establish a government that will carry out specific missions”. In his inaugural speech in January 2024 at the Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte, President Félix Tshisekedi said he was prepared to involve the DRC’s political opposition in the running of the country during his second term. ‘It is said that the harder you fight, the more beautiful the victory. So, ladies and gentlemen (of the opposition), you are an integral part of today’s event, and you rightly have your place in the governance of our country’, declared the President of the Republic.  With this in mind, Félix Tshisekedi is already working with a former candidate for President of the Republic in the Suminwa government, in the person of Constant Mutamba, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals.ACP/
