Kolwezi, April 18th, 2025 (CPA) – A call to abandon oneself completely and unremittingly to the Holy Spirit in order to fulfill the priestly mission was made to the priests of the diocese of Kolwezi, in the province of Lualaba, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, during the Chrism Mass said on Thursday by the bishop of Kolwezi, CPA noted. “As Bishop of Kolwezi, I am delighted to celebrate this third Chrism Mass. My dear priests, this Chrism Mass reminds us of the grace we have obtained to serve God’s people (…) My dear priests, spiritual life becomes lively and joyful not in our sober forms and appearances, but when we let the holy spirit take the initiative,” declared Bishop Richard Kazadi, bishop of the diocese of Kolwezi. He asked the priests of his diocese to preserve the anointing they received on the day of ordination and not to let life’s sufferings or difficulties get them down. “Priestly maturity comes through the Holy Spirit and is realized when the Holy Espri becomes the protagonist in our lives…” he maintained.
The Bishop of Kolwezi took the opportunity to thank the priests and all the faithful of his diocese for their efforts in strengthening and proclaiming the Gospel. Bishop Richard Kazadi took the opportunity to invite the faithful of his diocese to pray for the priests and to support them materially and spiritually in their priestly mission. He also urged all Catholic Christians in the Kolwezi diocese to fulfill their mission as baptized and sent by God. Maundy Thursday (the feast of priests in memory of the institution of the Eucharist by Jesus Christ…) is always closely linked to the Chrism Mass.
Personalities and political-administrative authorities from Lualaba province, including Lualaba Governor Fifi Masuka Saini, and several hundred Catholic Christians took part in the Eucharistic celebration. ACP/
