DRC: an industrial corridor project involving the construction of 3,100 km of motorway (Ministry in charge of Industry)

Kinshasa, April 15th, 2025 (CPA). – A USD6 billion project to develop an industrial corridor will see the construction of 3,100 km of modern motorway in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to a press release from the Ministry in charge of Industry and the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, which reached on Monday CPA.  

« Minister Louis Watum Kabamba, who is in South Africa for a medical check-up, took the opportunity to hold a strategic meeting on a structuring project to develop an industrial corridor worth six billion US dollars, currently in the feasibility study phase. This ambitious project calls for the construction of 3,100 km of modern motorway, crossing 10 provinces and linking 20 key towns, including the outskirts of Kinshasa« , it is read.

According to the source, with more than 200 bridges and between 12 and 16 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) along the route, this infrastructure will revolutionise national logistics by reducing transport times by 40%. « Planned to integrate rail and electricity corridors, the project will run from Kipushi to Boma, linking the interior of the country to the Atlantic Ocean via the port of Malela », has said the press release. This industrial corridor is a major lever for industrialisation, territorial integration and the development of SMEs.
