DRC and Ghana draw 1-1 at CAN 2025 U20 football tournament

Kinshasa, May 3rd, 2025 (CPA) – The Under-20 Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Black Meteors of Ghana drew 1-1 on Friday at Suez stadium in Egypt on the first day of Group C of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025. The DRC’s Leopardeaux opened the scoring on their debut through captain Samuel Tanda Lukisa (17th). Far from giving up, Ghana’s Black Meteors restored the balance through Aziz (24th).  The rest of the match was a formality for both sides, who could do no better than concede a draw.

Senegal and CAR played out the same result (1-1).

Also in Group C, Senegal’s national eleven scored their only goal, through Cheikh Tidiane Thiam (48th), while the Central African Republic equalised through Pengazonia (73rd).

Perfect ties in Group C

After these two evenly-matched results on Friday, the four countries in Group C found themselves on level terms.

Each of them picked up 1 point from a single outing, with one goal scored, one conceded and 0 goal differences. According to the competition calendar consulted by CPA on Saturday, the DRC’s next match is scheduled for Monday, at 6pm Suez time and 4pm Kinshasa time. It will be against the Central African Republic. Three hours later, in the same sports facilities, on the same Monday, Ghana and Senegal will take over at 9pm, for the second match of the second day of Group C. ACP/
