Kinshasa, July 3rd, 2025 (CPA).- Strengthening the bilateral partnership between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Canada in promoting human rights has been on the agenda during a meeting between the Minister in charge of Human Rights and the Business officer at the Canadian Embassy, according to the ministry’s account, consulted on Thursday by CPA. ‘This meeting is part of the strengthening of the bilateral partnership between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Canada, particularly in the area of promoting human rights,’ it is read. According to the same source, during this exchange, the two parties have reviewed several priority issues, including the protection of the rights of women and girls, a theme that Canada places at the heart of its cooperation in DRC. ‘The promotion of human rights, and more specifically those of women and girls, remains a major priority for Canada. We will continue our support through development projects focused on empowerment, in order to strengthen their capacities and enable them to play an active role in society,’ has declared Alexis Gilbert, Canada’s political advisor and Business Officer in DRC, at the end of the meeting.
