Kinshasa, May 3rd, 2025(CPA) – A memorandum of understanding has been signed between an Egyptian structure grouping together 6,000 companies active in various sectors and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Democratic Republic of Congo, said the embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a press release consulted on Saturday in Kinshasa by the CPA. ‘This memorandum of understanding, aimed at stimulating commercial partnerships and investments in the DRC, was concluded between the Association of Investors of the City 10 Ramadan, an Egyptian structure grouping together 6,000 companies active in various sectors, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Egypt DRC,’ read the statement. According to the document, the main aim of the agreement is to facilitate, through the channels of the CCI Egypt DRC, public-private partnerships and commercial representation contracts for a wide range of products, materials, services and equipment in the DRC.
This important agreement is part of the drive to strengthen economic ties between the DRC and Egypt. The ceremony took place on Friday in Cairo, during the ‘Annual Networking dinner EGYPT DRC’, organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Egypt DRC (CCI Egypt DRC). ‘The event, which was held under the patronage of the DRC Ambassador to Egypt, Jean Baptiste Kasongo Musenga, was followed by the signing of a historic memorandum of understanding,’ said the source.
For his part, Dr Sobhi Ibrahim Nasr Abdel Aal, vice-president of the 10 Ramadan Investors Association, expressed his association’s ambition to invest actively in the DRC, based on commercial representation contracts, the implementation of value-added projects and public-private partnerships, drawing on their successful experience in several countries in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. The source pointed out that this collaboration between the 10 Ramadan Investors Association and the CCI Egypt DRC opens up considerable economic prospects for Congolese companies, offering them privileged access to the Egyptian market and stimulating foreign direct investment in the DRC. According to the press release, an economic and trade mission by Congolese companies to Egypt is scheduled for 23 to 30 May 2025, with participation reserved exclusively for managers of public companies, as well as entrepreneurs and heads of private companies who are members of the Federation of Congolese Companies (FEC), COPEMECO, and the CCI Egypt DRC, the source concluded.
