Beni, June 5th 2025 (CPA).- A female referee from Beni, Nord-Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has confirmed that she has been selected by the Congolese Football Federation (Fecofa) to be one of the officials for the eastern zone of the Congo Cup during an interview. ‘We have been fortunate to be selected by Fecofa as one of the referees chosen to officiate the matches in the eastern zone of the 59th Congo Cup,’ has said Ms Justine Masika, a female referee from Beni, Nord-Kivu, a province located in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Justine Masika expressed her gratitude to those responsible for this appointment. ‘We are very grateful to the Fecofa sports hierarchy for choosing us, a humble individual, among the officials in this major national competition,’ she has said, adding that she considered it, in all responsibility, an individual promotion that would allow her to improve and gain more experience in her field.
In accordance with the schedule for the first round of the Eastern Zone of the 59th Congo Football Cup, she will be in action during the match between FC Mwanagaza of Beni and FC Cobra of Kisangani, scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Foundation Van Nevel Ghislaine Stadium in Butembo, and the following day at 3:00 p.m. at the same sports facility for the match between FC Mirage of Fizi and US Sokozaki of Butembo. For Ms.
Masika, despite the security challenges resulting from the war raging in the east of the country and due to the Rwandan aggression and the unhealthy climate created by ADF terrorists, football is still alive and well in this part of the country.
