DRC: Initiation of a project for the materialization of soil revenge on the subsoil

Kinshasa, May 29th, 2025 (CPA). – The ‘MARSS-FBC’ project on the revenge of the soil on the subsoil was initiated by an agricultural expert with the aim of reinventing the agricultural economy and guaranteeing the financial security of State agents and civil servants in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the CPA learnt on Thursday in an interview. ‘The MARSS-FBC project ‘Materializing the revenge of the soil on the subsoil: an economic benefit factor for state employees and civil servants, is an innovative solution for retired civil servants, who are often faced with economic uncertainty’, said Jean-Fidèle Mboyo, initiator of the MARSS-FBC project and agricultural expert.

According to the initiator, civil servants will use the project to retrain in an agro-pastoral approach to create sustainable sources of income to guarantee their future lives as retirees.

Over and above the individual benefits, he said, the MARSS-FBC project is part of a drive for local development, creating jobs and stimulating commercial activity, with the development of arable land and livestock areas with a view to strengthening the national economy. By incorporating the best agricultural practices while respecting local traditions, the project is aligned with modern economic sustainability issues and seeks to position the DRC as a key player in African agriculture.

‘The project’s objective is to retrain 70% of retired civil servants and agents in agropastoralism within five years, and to introduce at least one member per family to the development of agricultural resources, in order to establish a culture of self-financing and economic resilience’, he said.  According to Jean-fidele Mboyo, this project also aims to provide appropriate strategies to improve organizational capacities in order to produce multi-sectoral and multi-dimensional results, while emphasizing the specific aspects of community interaction, internal functional organization, intensive market gardening, modern livestock farming, adapted fishing and sustainable agroforestry.  The project will also provide strategies for innovative irrigation systems, bioenergy, an entrepreneurial approach, as well as training and expert support, added Jean-Fidèle Mboyo.  With regard to the marketing of the project’s products, he indicated that partnerships will be established with local, national, regional and international markets, and that distribution will take place to points of sale, concluded the project initiator.
