Kinshasa, April 28th, 2025 (CPA) – Technology was recommended to the women of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to preserve territorial sovereignty on Sunday in Kinshasa, by the president of the association ‘An exceptional woman from the Congo(FDEC)’ to the CPA. ‘I remain convinced that the Democratic Republic of Congo must make use of technology, which is an essential means of helping to preserve its territorial sovereignty, and use it to inform, train, protect and react in the face of threats and aggression. As a key player in the peace process, women must be involved in this sector’, said Lydie Omanga, President of FDEC. She pointed out that the DRC has everything it takes to ensure that technology is considered central to the preservation of territorial sovereignty. She also denounced the acts of violence committed against women in the east of the DRC, where a war of aggression is raging, before reiterating her support for the victims of gender-based violence (GBV). ‘My heart goes out to all these women who are victims of GBV, even here in Kinshasa. As a woman, I feel their suffering, because not a day goes by when I don’t think of my sisters living in the east of the country, suffering and experiencing all forms of violence because of the war. And I denounce and condemn these despicable acts against women’, said Ms Omanga. ‘I carry them every day in my heart, in my mind and in my prayers. I know that my sisters in the east of the country are strong and that they will remain standing despite the horrors, because they are survivors and powerful women’, she added, before stressing that every rape, every humiliation, every silence imposed is a wound inflicted on our entire nation.
