DRC: The government salutes African solidarity with disaster victims in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, May 27th, 2025 (CPA).- The African solidarity shown towards those affected by the torrential rains that recently fell in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has been praised by the Minister of Social Affairs, in a press release sent to the CPA on Tuesday.

‘The African solidarity shown to the families affected by the recent torrential rains in the city of Kinshasa is more necessary than ever. It bears witness to our ability to support each other in the face of adversity’, read the press release from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity.

‘As an African and a member of the Congolese government, I am moved by the generosity of our African brothers. This solidarity is a reflection of our common identity’, added the source. The office of the Minister in charge of Social Affairs, Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity said that the African personalities brought food, blankets and basic necessities to the stricken families. This was a strong gesture of pan-African solidarity that was welcomed by the beneficiaries.

Ms Aziza Munana also stressed the importance of this collective effort in a context marked by an increase in natural disasters and social tensions in the DRC, the same press release said.

Organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, in collaboration with the African diplomatic corps accredited to the DRC, the event was attended by nearly thirty African ambassadors. The event coincided with World Africa Day, celebrated this year under the theme ‘Reparations for the DRC: Justice for the Congolese and the victims of the war of aggression’.
