DRC: The Kinshasa Higher Institute of Statistics unveils its institutional anthem, a symbol of excellence

Kinshasa, May 15th, 2025 (CPA) –. The Kinshasa Higher Institute of Statistics (ISS/KIN) has unveiled its very first institutional anthem, a musical work that embodies the institution’s academic identity and reflects its values of rigour, knowledge and service to the nation, the CPA learned on Thursday from an administrative source. ‘The anthem is more than just a song. It is a moral and academic compass. It reminds each student of his or her role in building a better Congo through science and statistics,’ said Jean Marcel Mbikayi, Director General of ISS, stressing the importance of uniting efforts around common ideals. ISS/KIN intends to strengthen the sense of belonging of its students and staff through this song, which is the result of a collaborative effort between teachers, artists and students. ‘Composed around a solemn, catchy melody, the text evokes the central role of statistics in development, analyzing the present and projecting into the future. It calls for collective effort, a love of knowledge and civic commitment’, he added.  ‘Statistics and science hand in hand, guide our steps towards a better future’, repeats the refrain, which has now become a slogan taken up with fervor in the corridors of the school. This initiative is part of a wider drive to enhance academic excellence and promote civic education, according to several of the teachers interviewed. For them, in a national context where young people are looking for reference points, ISS/KIN is fully playing its role as a pathfinder.

The anthem, which is now sung at the institute’s official ceremonies, is seen by many students as a source of motivation and pride. ‘We recognize ourselves in these words. They remind us why we are studying and who we want to build for’, said Espérance Kabuya, a second-year student. Through this song, ISS/KIN is reaffirming its vocation, which is to train competent executives who are value-bearers and committed to a strong and prosperous Congo.
