Kinshasa, May 14th, 2025 (CPA) – The Senate of the Democratic Republic of Congo has announced on Wednesday, in a press release, that it plans to examine, on Thursday, the indictment of the general auditor of the Armed Forces, on the lifting of immunities and judicial proceedings against Joseph Kabila, senator for life and former president of the Republic. ‘The agenda for the plenary session includes two items, namely the examination of the indictments against the Honourable Lingepo Molonga Michel and Senator for life Kabila Kabange Joseph,’ has written the Rapporteur, Nefertiti Ngudianza, in this document received by CPA. At the plenary session of the upper house of parliament on Friday May 2nd, 2025, its president, Jean-Michel Sama, had specified that this issue would be examined in accordance with the Constitution and the Senate’s rules of procedure. Furthermore, the elected representatives will consider, during the same session, an oral question with debate from Senator Patrice Pungwe, addressed to the Minister in charge of Higher and University Education, as part of the Senate’s regalian mission of parliamentary control. In accordance with article 138 of the Constitution, the Parliament has five means or tools at its disposal to exercise this control, namely: oral or written questions with or without debate not followed by a vote; the topical question; the interpellation; the committee of enquiry and the hearing by the committees.
