Kinshasa, June 9th, 2025 (CPA). – Three new community and tourist infrastructure projects have been successively inaugurated on Monday in Kolwezi, the chief town of Lualaba Province, by President Tshisekedi upon his arrival for a tour of this part of the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. ‘The three major infrastructure projects (…) are achievements that fall within the framework of the sixth priority axis of President Tshisekedi’s second term, as well as the pillar of the 2024-2028 provincial development plan, dedicated to good governance and improving service efficiency,’ has said Fifi Masuka, Governor of Lualaba. ‘These infrastructures are the new administrative building of the Governorate, the large multipurpose hall and the Congress village,’ she has listed.
The Governor of Lualaba has specified that these infrastructures have been built in accordance with the guidelines received from the Head of State during his last visits to the world capital of cobalt, with a view to better meeting the aspirations of the population.
‘During your first two visits to Lualaba, you had kindly given me a lot of advice that have guided my actions. Today, on your third visit, Lualaba has the honour of welcoming you for the concrete inauguration of your vision, materialised by works built with our own funds,’ she has said.
Fifi Masuka has announced that the ‘Congress Village’, the first building to be inaugurated, covers an area of 60,305 m2. It includes a 1,500-seat congress hall, 34 offices, four (4) meeting rooms, a six (6)-room motel and two apartments, and two (2) large terraces.
‘It positions Lualaba as an international conference centre in the fields of mining, tourism, economics and technology (…) These buildings reflect the desire of the provincial government and parliament to provide the province with modern infrastructure,’ has explained Fifi Masuka. The new governorate complex, built on an area of 4,827 square metres, is divided into two main blocks: the first is a two-storey building with 30 rooms, including an office for the governor and 20 additional offices, while the other is a three-storey building with 31 rooms, five ministerial offices and 11 other offices.
‘The multipurpose hall, the third infrastructure to be inaugurated, is built on 2,896 m² with a capacity of approximately 1,500 seats, filling a structural gap and putting an end to costly recourse to private infrastructure for official events,’ the Lualaba provincial authority has also revealed.
‘Its construction is part of the President of the Republic’s fourth strategic axis, relating to economic diversification, and pillars 3 and 4 of the Provincial Development Plan, linked to the cultural and tourism sectors,’ she has added.

In addition, before concluding her address, the governor of Lualaba has welcomed the completion of all these infrastructure projects, which pay tribute to the bravery and competence of female leadership. « These inaugurations symbolise the victory of the work and competence of female leadership over the stigmatisation and the slander. These projects are the result of the active silence of a servant devoted to her mission. Your presence today in Lualaba, accompanied by the First Lady, is a strong signal of your commitment to the development and strengthening of state authority throughout the country, » she has testified.
