Kinshasa, June 16th, 2015 (CPA) – The possibility of a partnership in the agricultural sector was raised on Monday at a meeting in Kinshasa between the Director General of the National Export Promotion Agency (Anapex) and the Ukrainian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). ‘I was very pleased to meet the Director General of Anapex Mike Tambwe today. We exchanged views on cooperation in agriculture, import and export, and investment. It was a really inspiring meeting today, because the DRC and Ukraine both have large agricultural areas’, said Dr Vasyl Hamianin, Ukraine’s ambassador to the DRC. ‘As I have always said, the potential of this republic (DRC) is great and better. It’s not just for the local market, but also for export around the world. When it comes to my work, I always do my best to ensure that practice follows’, he added.
For Dr Vasyl Hamianin, this visit to the CEO of Anapex is the result of improved cooperation between the two countries in terms of agriculture and exports. ‘I always support companies, whether private, public or local, to come and invest where I am, for a lasting partnership’, he said. The ambassador also pointed out that the two countries are in the process of overcoming a major challenge. ‘The war in the east of the country has had a real impact on agriculture and Congo’s exports to the rest of the world. It’s the same in Ukraine, where the majority of agricultural land is occupied by Russia’, he said.
He hoped that the areas occupied in these two countries would be freed up. ‘That is why, together, we are going to join forces to drive out the enemy so that people can eat well and wear good clothes, so that peace can reign everywhere’. He also expressed the hope that the Congolese head of state, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, would meet his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two leaders. For Ambassador Vasyl Hamianin, this will be a historic meeting for the two countries, adding that the rapprochement between the DRC and Ukraine is based on a number of mutually beneficial projects and initiatives, particularly in the fields of trade, agriculture, industry, energy, education and information technology.
