Kinshasa, June 22nd, 2025 (CPA) – The theme of ‘awakening the potential of young people to build a strong nation, from talent to civic commitment’ was the subject of an entrepreneurship conference on Saturday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), during an Experience Fair. ‘Congolese youth must do better, each in their own field, whether political or entrepreneurial, to bring out the potential that is hidden within them and move the country forward’, said Christelle Vuanga, national deputy and speaker at the conference. ‘When I look around the room, I tell myself that this is a generation that has identified its mission and understands perfectly well that it must be fulfilled. And fulfilling a mission is not easy. It’s not easy because, a few years ago, when we looked at the media or when certain people talked about Congolese youth, they chose to focus on a certain youth. But today, as the alternative takes off, the alternative stands out, we are seeing more and more young people in many fields seeking to make a difference and above all to choose excellence’, she said. She encouraged young people to awaken their potential and talent for entrepreneurship in any field.
Mathieu Muboyayo, Acting CEO of the National Agency for the Development of Congolese Entrepreneurship (ANADEC), reaffirmed his organization’s commitment to supporting young people in their entrepreneurial endeavors, from the idea of setting up a business right through to financing. He pointed out that today, young Congolese are in a position to undertake businesses like those in Western countries or elsewhere, given that the Congolese government makes funding available for the projects of young Congolese entrepreneurs. For his part, Mr Iris Ngalamulume, initiator of the Experience Lounge, pointed out that this activity is not just about inspiring and motivating speeches, but we need a mindset that is ready to take action.
‘You can see that everyone has talent, and that talent needs to be used and exploited. Kinshasa, in general, our country, is the cradle of talent that, until now, has not been exploited. The raison d’être of the Experience Lounge is therefore to provide these talented young people with the tools and information that can help them, and then make the most of them’, he explained.
