FIFA Club World Cup: ‘This competition is like a training school’ (Coach of a club in DRC)

Kinshasa, June 17th, 2025 (CPA).- The coach of Don Bosco Lubumbashi, from Haut-Katanga in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has estimated on Tuesday in an interview that the FIFA Club World Cup, held from June 15th to July 13th in the United States, is a training ground for coaches and players from the DRC. ‘The 2025 Club World Cup, organised by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) from June 15th to July 13th, is like an open-air training school for the country’s coaches, which we are, and for the players we coach,’ has declared Pamphile Mihayo Kazembe, coach of CS Don Bosco de Lubumbashi.

« As a football technician, this competition is of great interest to DRC clubs and their players. Both have an obligation, if they want to improve, to follow the ups and downs of this global competition, which has brought together 32 coaches from all corners of the football world and with a wealth of technical and tactical knowledge, » he has explained, adding that during this American football campaign, there are always lessons to be learned from each match, as it is a high-level competition bringing together the world’s leading football clubs. According to him, coaches learn something about the different tactical systems put in place by the technical staff of the 32 teams involved.

As an example, Pamphile Mihayo has cited the case of the match between PSG and Athletico Madrid, during which the French club has played a 4-3-3 system that he has considered positive and interesting in terms of the style of play required for this purpose. He has been said that, as such, every coach learns something new every day, pointing out that just as coaches have an interest in improving professionally, so too do the players, the main actors who benefit from their mentor’s guidance.

Mihayo Kazembe concluded that, as far as players are concerned, if they want to improve their careers, they will have to work hard at it, each in their respective positions.  According to this former TP player and coach, the 2025 Club World Cup is a school for learning the theoretical basics on a large scale, which everyone, coaches and players alike, will have to put into practice in their teams.
