Kinshasa, June 2nd, 2025(CPA) – The international footballer from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Charles Pickel, has ensured the promotion of his team, Cremonese, to the first division of the Italian championship, series A, after finishing 4th in the standings with 61 points, in 38 outings, in the series B championship, in Italy, according to the Congolese player’s X page. ‘After finishing 4th in the Serie B standings, I’m delighted to be taking part in my team’s promotion to the first division of the Italian top flight, Serie A, next season,’ it read. According to the source, Cremonese sealed their place in Serie A after beating Spezia 3-2 at the Stadio Alberto Picco on Sunday in the play-off final of the 2024-2025 Italian second division Serie B championship. According to the X report, the Congolese fawn played a decisive role in his team’s rise, bringing his solidity and know-how to midfield. Having arrived at the Italian club in July 2022 from FC Famalicao of Portugal for around €4 million, Pickel quickly adapted to the club, going on to make a name for himself in Cremonese’s attacking midfield. During the 2024-2025 season, DRC midfielder Charles Pickel scored just two goals for his team in the Serie B championship. Charles Pickel was called up for the first time in 2023, and to date has made 21 appearances for the DRC Leopards. On his last appearance for the DRC national football team, Charles Pickel scored the winner against Mauritania (2-0) on the 6th day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, last March.
