Lubumbashi, April 24th, 2025 (CPA) – A recommendation was made to the provincial Ministry in charge of the Interior by a youth association, to pursue the authors of messages of violence in Lubumbashi, capital of Haut-Katanga, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, during a campaign organized on Thursday in this city. « We, the young people of Lubumbashi, need peace to be able to go about our business. That’s why we’re asking the provincial Ministry in charge of the Interior to prosecute all those responsible for divisive messages, unrest and violence, » has declared François Mwamba, president of the Mosaique association. He has invited participants to take ownership of the campaign entitled “ Living together, tolerance and love of neighbour ”, which, according to him, has the mission of popularizing messages of peace in every corner of the city of Lubumbashi through meetings and social networks for three months. “We congratulate the Mosaique association and promise to put the ideology of this campaign into practice, first within our respective structures, and then to participate in the campaign’s activities,” has said one participant. He called on the leaders of socio-cultural associations and political parties to ensure the civic and moral education of their members.
Calling on youth to assume greater responsibility
The president of the Mosaique association, François Mwamba, has called on the youth of Lubumbashi to assume greater responsibility in their lives in order to aspire to high office.
“I urge young people to behave with dignity and be role models on whom the provincial authorities can rely”, he has recommended. « If today you decry the contempt of which youth are victims, it’s because of anti-values. You need to educate each other in your various supervisory structures to cultivate more values and the spirit of patriotism, » he has continued. For her part, Elisee Mayala, vice-president of the Jeune Dynamique movement, proposed an agricultural, fishing and livestock project, before suggesting that the leaders of the various structures work together to seek financing. To close this activity, each participant has signed a letter of commitment to promote peace.
