Lubumbashi, May 12th, 2025 (CPA) – The provincial government of Haut-Katanga, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has promised on Monday in Lubumbashi to examine the possibility of improving the remuneration of nurses in order to improve the quality of care, CPA has learnt from an official source. ‘For the year 2025, we need to think about how nurses can be further encouraged in terms of remuneration to strengthen nursing care,’ has declared Dr Joseph N’sambi, provincial Minister in charge of Health. He has, in a message addressed to nurses on the occasion of International Nurses’ Day, celebrated on May 12th of each year, made it known that DRC government is working on this category of health personnel at a time of universal health coverage (UHC) to make the nursing profession attractive in order to remedy the crisis in terms of quality and quantity, especially in rural areas. The provincial Minister in charge of Health has emphasised that this celebration is a way of recognising the role played by nurses in society. Dr Joseph Nsambi Bulanda has pleaded for the alignment of the benefits offered by the State, before thanking all the nurses in Haut-Katanga province for the service they provide to the population.
