Kinshasa, May 7th 2025 (CPA) . – The price of a kilogram of Arabica coffee, an export product of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has risen by 7.10% internationally, trading at USD 7.69 per kilogram on May 5th 2025 compared to USD 7.18 the previous week, according to a press release consulted by the CPA on Wednesday. ‘Arabica coffee recorded a price increase on the international markets during the week of 5 to 10 May 2025, trading at USD 7.69 compared to USD 7.18 the previous week, an increase of 7.10% per kilogram’, reads the press release from the National Mercurial Commission of the Ministry in charge of Foreign Trade. According to this source, in addition to cocoa, some agricultural and forestry products also rose on the international market during the week under review. Other agricultural products remained stable on international markets. The press release also stated that during the weeks of 14th to 19th April and 21st to 26th April 2025, Arabica coffee fell by 8.73% and 3.89% per kilogram respectively on the international markets, trading at USD 6.69 against USD 7.33 and USD 6.95 against USD 6.69. In the week April 28th, 2025 to May 3rd, 2025, the price of a kilogram of Arabica coffee rose on international markets, trading at USD 7.18 compared with USD 6.95 the previous week, an increase of 3.31% per kilogram. The rise, fall and stability in the prices of merchant mining, agricultural and forestry products, the document pointed out, are the result of supply and demand on the international markets and in the supply chain. These fluctuations have a direct impact on the Congolese economy, which is heavily dependent on exports of raw materials, particularly in the mining sector.ACP/
