Kabila in Goma: the government throws away the crutches brought to the Rwandan troops

(Pierre Matadi)

Kinshasa, April 21st, 2025 (CPA) – The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has taken on Saturday important decisions in reaction to the « deliberate choice » of the former Congolese Head of State who returned on Friday to the country via the martyred city of Goma, via Kigali, a manoeuvre comparable to the crutches brought to the Rwandan occupiers and their subjugators of the M23-AFC.

‘Has Joseph Kabila randomly chosen this month of April to make his return at a time when the tide of history is turning against the Rwandan aggressor and occupier, whose withdrawal from Congolese territory is being called for by international institutions, the 27 member states of the European Union (EU) and the African Union (AU)?‘, the Congolese political environment is wondering. DRC has retaliated on Saturday, with serious decisions ranging from « the suspension on national territory of the activities of the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD) », its political group, to « the seizure (by the judicial authorities) of all its movable and immovable property », according to respective press releases from the Congolese Ministries in charge of the Interior and Justice. The government has thus condemned and sanctioned the « complicit silence » of the fourth President of DRC and his collaborators since the incursion, in March 2022, of M23 terrorists into Bunagana (Nord-Kivu).

, the PPRD and the Front Commun pour le Congo (Common Front for Congo) (FCC), its former political platform, had sabotaged the Republic’s fourth electoral cycle (December 2023) by opting for “the resistance”‘The enemy is not alone: an entire system has protected him for decades’, had warned President Felix Tshisekedi during a moral talk for members of the Sacred Union (the presidential platform) on February 22nd. The Head of State, who is the best informed person in the country, had accused his predecessor of ‘supporting the M23-AFC terrorists’. For his part, Mr Kabila had announced his return to DRC via « the eastern part », without indicating which town. In the month of March, he had shown his political activism from Johannesburg, South Africa, and Namibia, where he had made a number of ambiguous pronouncements following the occupation of the martyred towns of Goma and Bukavu by Rwandan troops and their M23 ‘puppets’.

To take control of Goma, where he is peacefully staying, the Rwandan army has killed at least 8,000 Congolese in 4 days, according to an official report. Its troops continue to commit crimes on a daily basis. In his Resolution 2773, the Security Council has called on Kigali to withdraw its troops from Congolese soil, as did the United States, which have even sanctioned Rwandan officials. Until Sunday, no image of the former President in Goma had circulated.
