Kindu: end of the first phase of identifying media professionals

Kindu, July 2nd, 2025 (CPA).- The first phase of the census and identification of media professionals was completed on July 1st, 2025 in Kindu, the capital of Maniema province in the center-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the CPA learned on Wednesday.  « We have just completed the first phase of the census and identification of public and private media professionals launched last June in the city of Kindu, in anticipation of the elective general assembly that will soon be held in Maniema province. During this phase, which went smoothly, fourteen (14) media outlets were registered in Kindu, » said Grace Mbambi, president of the Transitional Committee of the National Union of the Press of Congo (UNPC), Maniema Section. He announced on this occasion that, following the first phase that has just been completed in Kindu, his team is preparing to extend this census and identification operation for media professionals to the seven territories that make up Maniema Province.  According to him, this media census operation aims to establish an official directory of journalists working in Maniema, DRC, in order to clean up the media sector, which has been largely infiltrated by political party activists and propagandists.
