Kinshasa, April 28th, 2024 (CPA) – Pastor Eric Mavinga Masiala was elected as legal representative on Saturday, with 51.7% of the votes, at the closing of the elective general assembly of the 37th community of the Assemblies of God in Congo, of the Church of Christ in Congo (CADC/ECC), in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
‘The men of God have put me in charge and given me the heavy responsibility of leading the 37th Community of the Assemblies of God in the Congo, of the Church of Christ in the Congo (CADC/ECC). This community is a church of Jesus Christ with a mandate to evangelize and bring the good news for the salvation of souls’, declared pastor Eric Mavinga, the new legal representative. ‘We are going to push our church towards the mission of evangelization, but we are also going to get involved in social and development work to accomplish this mission. We are going to get involved body, soul and spirit so that the gospel of Jesus Christ remains a key in the lives of God’s children, even outside the country’, he added.
He took the opportunity to express his determination to launch a number of projects, some of which are to be carried out in the short, medium and long term. ‘We are going to launch various projects over the four years of our mandate. There will be objectives that will be achieved, because there are also certain medium-term projects that we are going to achieve. The long-term projects we are going to start and that may end with me or with others, it all depends on God and by his grace, we will get there,’ he said. For his part, the outgoing legal representative, who was delighted that his term of office was coming to an end, encouraged his successor to continue working for peace and stability in the Assemblies of God community in Congo. ‘I bless God because I have led this community to this day. I wish my successor a fruitful term of office. May he continue to work for the peace and stability of our community, which is what I have worked for during my term of office’, said Célestin Kalaki, theoutgoing legal representative. The office of the new legal representative is made up of pastors Walter Mpiapi as secretary general; Serge Lusandu as 1st deputy; Robert Bunda as 2nd deputy; Niphon Ekania as administrator and financial director; Willy Kitia as treasurer and Salem Moanda as steward.
Mr Eric Mavinga Masiala was elected as the new legal representative of the 37th community of the Assemblies of God in Congo, Church of Christ in Congo (CADC/ECC), with 216 votes or 51.7% in the second ballot, and is the titular pastor of the Evangelical Center Word of Truth. In 2017, the last elections were cancelled by the Minister of Justice for reasons of conformity with the texts in force, and it has been eight years since there were elections for the members of the legal representation of this community.
