Kinshasa: alleged murderer of three soldiers apprehended by the Congolese army

Kinshasa, May 15th, 2025 (CPA) – An alleged murderer of three (3) soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) was apprehended on Thursday in the Salongo district of Kintambo, a commune in the center of Kinshasa, the Congolese capital, according to military sources.

‘Thanks to the intervention of several military bodies, including the military police, the Republican Guard and the intelligence services, the man who ended the lives of three of our valiant soldiers was apprehended in a building site on Avenue Kivu, in the Salongo district, where he had taken refuge,’ said Colonel Bertin Mulongoyi, commander of Camp Mobile. ‘It was mainly thanks to the intervention of local residents who had alerted the police to the presence of an armed individual in military uniform with several magazines, who had broken into a building site in the early hours of the morning. He resisted but was subdued after warning shots were fired. He was taken to the 14th military region for questioning, and will have to answer for his actions’, he added. He said that the three (3) FARDC soldiers were shot dead at the junction of Bangala and Kasa-Vubu avenues, near the Ngaliema mobile camp, in the west of Kinshasa. ‘Three (3) of our soldiers from the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), including two (2) from my unit, were shot dead at around 3am by a republican guard while they were at their post at the entrance to Camp Mobile. After putting an end to their lives and recovering the magazines from their weapons, he shot dead another soldier from the listening and tracking centre, who had come to intervene after hearing the shots’, he said. The bodies of the three soldiers killed by bullets were kept in the morgue at Camp Tshatshi in Ngaliema, a municipality in the west of the Congolese capital.
