Kinshasa, June 25th, 2025 (CPA) – A suspected armed criminal has been killed on Tuesday night in the Lubudi district of Selembao, a municipality in the centre of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, after a clash with the police, according to an administrative source. ‘A criminal armed robber has been neutralised by our security forces during the night around 2 o’clock in the morning. The clash with these thugs has taken place in the Lubudi district. The young man shot in the abdomen has succumbed to his injuries’, has declared Matthias Womumu, burgomaster of Selembao. ‘The criminal killed was named Christian Kukele. He lived on Avenue Lukala No. 14 in the Camp Luka neighbourhood, in the municipality of Ngaliema. His friends were also hit by bullets during the clash. But they have managed to escape », he has added.

According to the information provided by the burgomaster Womumu, these alleged thugs have been caught robbing a house selling wicks. ‘They have taken away the sum of 2,800 US dollars’. This clash between the forces of the order and the alleged criminals in Selembao comes a month after three (3) cases of robbery resulting in the death of a policeman in the space of 72 hours in the same municipality.
