Kinshasa: Hearing of oral question to provincial transport minister scheduled for Friday

Kinshasa, May 29th, 2025 (CPA) – The hearing of the oral question addressed to the provincial Minister of Transport and Urban Mobility has been scheduled for Friday at the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly (APK), in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to a press release consulted on Thursday.

‘The bureau of the deliberative body of Kinshasa invites you to take part in a plenary session scheduled for Friday, May 30th, 2025. The items on the agenda are: the adoption of the agenda, the reading and adoption of the minutes of the plenary session of May 28th and the hearing of the oral question with debate addressed to the provincial Minister in charge of Transport and Urban Mobility, Bob Amisso’, read the APK press release. The provincial minister has been summoned to appear before the provincial councilors to answer the main reasons for the traffic congestion in the city of Kinshasa.

Traffic congestion in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is an obstacle to the application of the decree setting new fares for public transport published by the provincial government. To combat traffic jams and ease the flow of road traffic in Kinshasa, the provincial executive had introduced time restrictions for vehicles weighing 20 tons or more: trailer lorries and lorries weighing 20 tons or more carrying construction materials (cement, concrete reinforcing bars, stones, sand, wood, logs, etc.) are authorized to travel between 10pm and 5am.
