Kinshasa, July 3rd, 2025 (CPA). The children at a housing centre in Kimbanseke, east of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), have been urged on Thursday to remain hopeful for a better future during a visit by a non-profit organisation on Thursday, on the side-lines of the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the country’s independence. « It is with joy that we have wanted to celebrate our very first anniversary and the 65th anniversary of our country’s independence here. Sharing this moment with you is special and you deserve it. Count on our love, and I urge you to keep smiling and hoping because the future of DRC depends on each Congolese person, regardless of their social status, » has declared Mervedie Kiyangi, secretary of the Kiyangi Mutindu Mosi Excellent Foundation (FOKIM). ‘The coordinator of “Fokim” did not want us to come empty-handed. What we have brought today is only symbolic. You have clothes, mattresses, food and other items. This is our contribution to the on-going efforts of the orphanage, whose work we encourage,’ she has added. In keeping with this spirit, a meal with Congolese flavours, prepared on site, was served to the orphans, followed by the presentation of various donations, which were gratefully received by the orphanage managers. ‘We are blessed by your precious gesture. Because you bring us goods that our children need most. They are invaluable in helping us to continue to fulfil our responsibility to care for orphaned children in our country, particularly in Kinshasa,’ has indicated one of the supervisors at the ‘Le Bon Berger’ orphanage. This visit marks the beginning of a series of activities organised by FOKIM, which is committed, among its many missions, to investing in the well-being of the most disadvantaged with a view to the development of DRC.
