Kinshasa: the female restaurants owners made aware of their role in local development

Kinshasa, July 3rd, 2025 (CPA). – The female restaurants owners commonly known as ‘mamans malewa’, wives of soldiers from the Bia and Ndolo camps in Kinshasa (capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo), have been made aware on Wednesday of their role in local development, according to a statement received on Thursday by CPA.  « The House of Entrepreneurship has been the setting for an inspiring meeting to raise awareness and identify the mamans Malewa, wives of soldiers from the Bia and Ndolo camps. This event aims to strengthen community ties by providing a space for the exchange of ideas and skills, while highlighting the fundamental role of these women in local development and the preservation of culinary culture, » it is read   from the statement of the National Agency for the Development of Congolese Entrepreneurship (Anadec). The source has specified that through this event, Anadec hopes to stimulate female entrepreneurship by providing mothers with the tools they need to develop their culinary activities. ‘By offering them a platform for collaboration, this initiative aims to build a better future where the culinary talent of mothers is recognised and supported, thereby strengthening their role as pillars of their families and the community,’ the same source has said. Anadec is a Congolese public institution providing technical and administrative services, whose aim is to promote national entrepreneurship through information and theoretical and practical training on access to project financing and public or private markets for entrepreneurs, with a view to fostering the emergence of the Congolese middle classes.
