Kinshasa, June 1st, 2025 (CPA).- The celebration and the protection of the Congo River has been the focus of the 5th edition of the Kongo River Festival, scheduled for July 16th-27th in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has announced the coordinator of this cultural event in a press release. ‘The Congo River, a source of life, connection and resilience for the planet, will be the main theme of the 2025 edition, with a focus on ‘Water and Forest’ to highlight the importance of synergy between the key players in the river’s survival. To organise this festival, which promotes environmental protection, a partnership has been signed with the British Embassy in DRC under the banner of nature, culture and ecological citizenship. He has announced that a science camp will be held from July 16th to 20th, 2025, and the festive celebration will take place from July 26th to 27th, 2025. The Kongo River Festival is a major event conceived in 2021 by the NGO Kongo River, whose main mission is to promote and preserve the Congo River and its vast watershed. This event aims to raise awareness among the public and social actors of the many issues related to the protection of this vital pillar of the African continent. The previous edition focused on specific themes, such as ‘Pool Malebo between the two banks,’ symbolising the connection between Kinshasa and Brazzaville and the need to strengthen cultural and economic ties between the two capitals.
