Kinshasa: young people urged to learn English to open up opportunities

Kinshasa, April 17^th, 2025 (CPA) – The young people have been urged to learn English to open up opportunities for themselves and other cultures, at a meeting on Wednesday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. ‘In today’s world, where the English language opens up countless opportunities, it is important for the young people to take an interest in it so as not to miss out on certain opportunities’, has declared Junias Mukoko, a polyglot and IT teacher.  « Like all languages, English allows us to discover new cultures, while sharing our ideas without language barriers. It is the language of science, technology, cinema and so on. By learning it, you will have access to a wealth of knowledge and of opportunities’, he has added. This computer engineer has urged parents to encourage their children to learn English to prepare them to face the modern world. « The knowledge of English is a precious asset that many people ignore. The employers are often looking for candidates who can communicate efficiently in English. I urge parents to send their children to learn English from an early age », has explained Mr Mukoko. According to the statistics, the English language occupies a predominant place in the modern world, and learning it is often seen as a major asset. Mastering English is rich in both professional and personal benefits. It’s a skill that promotes the integration in a world that is more and more interconnected.
