Kenge, April 21st, 2025 (CPA). –A mission from the National Agency for Electrification and Energy Services in Rural and Peri-urban Areas (ANSER) has been dispatched to collect basic data with a view to electrifying the town of Kenge, the main town in Kwango province (south-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo), CPA has noted on Sunday.
« We are in Kenge for several days on a mission to gather basic data with a view to making electrification projects in rural and peri-urban areas viable and sustainable. Everyone knows that electricity is a key lever for the socio-economic development of an entity », has declared Jean-Daniel Mupopo, who is in charge of safeguarding and community development (SDC) in ANSER’s Grand Ouest pool. This project, once implemented, according to him, will boost the socio-economic development of the town of Kenge.
He has added that « to accomplish our mission,‘ we have, following our meeting with the provincial governor Willy Bitwisila Lusundji, contacted a number of social groups, in particular economic operators, health, education, energy and other local entrepreneurs, with a view to developing their future socio-economic activities”. To gather the basic data, he has explained, the interviews, the document reviews and other survey techniques have been used with resource persons. In Kwango, in Kasongo-Lunda to be precise, a project to build a photovoltaic solar power plant (CSPV), financed by the central government, is currently underway, has informed the Community Safeguard and Development Officer (SDC).
As a recall, the ANSER mission was made up of Aime Yuma Heradi, National Director of the Environment and Socio-Economic Development, Archange Mbangu, Provincial Director, and Jean-Daniel Mupopo, SDC for the Pool Grand Ouest. ANSER is a public body whose mission is to promote access to electricity and energy services in rural and peri-urban areas. It is headed by Cyprien Musimar Ndele, General Director.
