Linafoot: TP Mazembe win play-off against Rangers (2-0)

Kinshasa, May 26th, 2025 ( CPA ).– TP Mazembe of Lubumbashi, in Haut-Katanga, a province in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), were victorious over Rangers of Kinshasa, the country’s capital, by 2-0 on Monday at the Martyrs stadium in Kinshasa, on the 7th day of the play-offs of the national League of football (Linafoot) championship.

After the 45 first minutes of this somewhat rough encounter, in which the 22 players surprised both sides with an even score of 0-0, The Ravens have scored two goals in quick succession after the break, the first coming from Ousseini Soumailia Badamasi (62nd) and the second from Gloire Mujaya (72nd). The moment was thus set for TP Mazembe’s 5th win in 9 outings, including 3 defeats and a draw, for a total of 16 points, on a par with CS Don Bosco for as many matches played.

Mazembe’s trip to Kinshasa ended in defeat for Eagles of Congo (1-3), a draw with AS V.Club (0-0) and three wins over Maniema Union (1-0), AF Anges Verts (3-1), Motema Pembe (1-0) and AC Rangers (2-0). With this defeat, AC Rangers lost ground on their 6 points, leaving them 10th in the title race, in a race involving 12 contenders. The last slots at the bottom of the ladder are occupied by Sa Majesté Sanga Blende of Mbuji-Mayi (11th, 4 pts) and AF Anges Verts (12th, 2 pts).
