Mali: Congolese artist invited to the Roots and Beauty Africa International Festival

Kinshasa, April 9th, 2025 (CPA) -Mayanda Nzau, an actor from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has been invited to represent his country at the international festival  »Roots and Beauty Africa » (Racines et beautés d’Afrique) scheduled from April 28 to May 04, 2025 in Bamako, the capital of Mali, CPA learned Wednesday from a press release.  “The Roots and Beauty Africa (Firba) international festival will be held from April 28th to May 4th, 2025, in Bamako, Mali, with the participation of several artists from all corners of Africa. The DRC will be represented by comedian-artist Muntu Mayanda Nzau alias  »Ekeko Muntu » (statue man),” it read. According to the source, comedian Nzau Ekeko Muntu will be taking part in the event to perform his “statue living” show.  “His show consists of standing still, straight in front of the audience, in a position without moving or expressing himself, like a real statue, for a long time,” said the press release.

Cultures sans frontières: Quand les différences deviennent des forces” is the theme chosen for the 3rd edition of this international, pan-African cultural event, which remains open to all forms of artistic expression. The program includes exhibitions, fashion shows, musical performances and other diverse cultural presentations from participating countries including the DRC, Mali, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Niger. “Collectors, art lovers and the general public will visit exhibitions during this cultural week. This cultural site is a platform dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of African artistic creation. It is also a great showcase for business and creativity linked to culture and the arts, and for the development of projects between artists to sublimate works from the four corners of Africa”, said the press release. Festival International Roots and Beauty Africa aims to be a crossroads, a cultural mecca conducive to meetings between experts and enthusiasts. It is not only a global panorama of the development of the African cultural industry, but above all a lever for the emulation of artists’ creativity.

Firba is committed to promoting the social advancement of marginalized communities by offering training and professional opportunities. Its aim is to set up training structures for these people in various African countries.  For this 3rd edition, widows and orphans in Mali were trained from February 3 to April 3 in the art of Bogolan fabric making, a skill that will bring them financial independence.
