Medical consultations, a response to the appeal of Kinshasa’s disaster victims (An association)

Kinshasa, April 28th, 2025 (CPA) – The medical consultations organized for victims of the recent torrential rains in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), are a way of helping these victims, said the president of the NGO ‘Le Bouclier’ on Friday at the closingceremony of these activities.  I’d like to tell you that these free consultations and treatment that we organized from Wednesday to Friday are, quite rightly, our response to the appeal made to our NGO ‘Le Bouclier’ by the brothers and sisters affected by the recent rains’, said Jean-David E’ngazi, President of the association. It’s a way of helping them,’ he added, ’in response to their appeal and to the cries of distress raised during our visit on Sunday to hand over basic necessities.  For Mr E’ngazi, this is the recognized mission of humanitarian aid workers, who intervene wherever a disaster or war leaves people vulnerable. In fact, he said, the NGO ‘Le Bouclier’ is behind the efforts of the government of the Republic, which is constantly working hard to put a smile back on the faces of those vulnerable people who have a right to life and social well-being. ‘As a humanitarian organization, we have done everything possible to respond to the cries of distress from the victims of this disaster, because in such a vulnerable state, access to healthcare is a necessity. That’s why, over the past three days, the doctors and other health workers on the medical staff of the NGO +Le Bouclier+ have been working tirelessly for the cause,’ he said. He noted that every effort had been made to provide adequate health care for patients of all ages, without exception, with symptoms of various illnesses, so that they would be in good health despite their current situation. ‘We are very satisfied with these consultations and the free medical care organized for us by the NGO +Le Bouclier+, especially the appropriate medical treatment we received, which has brought us relief. We ask them not to stop here, but rather to be permanent until the day we are evacuated for our social reintegration’, declared Pierre Mbudiembo, one of the disaster victims, staying at the Bandalungwa municipal site. He acknowledged the delicate work carried out by this NGO in administering quality health care with a view to good medical care, despite some cases of specialities. Pierre Mbudiembo also praised the transfer of other patients whose cases required hospitalization in specialized medical facilities for proper treatment, before inviting other humanitarians to follow in the footsteps of the NGO ‘Le Bouclier’ in the various difficulties they face during this dark period in their lives. Le Bouclier has organized a series of humanitarian actions to help the victims, including the distribution of basic necessities at all three sites – the Martyrs and Tata Raphaël stadiums, as well as at the Bandalungwa municipal site where these vulnerable people are being housed – in order to help them by alleviating some of their suffering.
