Bunia, April 9th, 2025(CPA).- The security situation in the Djugu territory in Ituri (north-east) of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the face of militia activism, has been controlled by the national army (Fardc), according to the spokesman for the loyalist Forces operational sector, in an interview on Wednesday with CPA. “The security situation in Ituri province is generally calm and under the control of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Fradc), despite the activism of the Cooperative for the Development of Congo (Codeco) and Zaire militia in Djugu territory,” said Lieutenant Jules Ngongo, Fardc spokesman in Ituri.
He indicated that the Armed Forces, in their mission to protect the population and their property, were able to narrowly save the local population in an ambush set up by Codeco militiamen in the locality of Kparngaza located in Djugu territory. « There was an ambush by the Codeco militia on the civilian population near Kparngaza, which the Armed Forces destroyed (…) Following this, the Armed Forces rescued the population, who were peacefully going about their business. In the hands of the Codeco, the Armed Forces recovered their compatriots. Their lives were saved thanks to the muscular intervention of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo », said Lieutenant Jules Ngongo.
He also recalled that during the operational sector commander’s stay in Fataki, he had called on the communities to collaborate with the Fardc in order to put the enemies of the Republic out of action. « Over and above this, the armed force continues to track down all armed groups opposed to the peace process in Djugu territory, with a view to restoring the authority of the State and putting them out of action. In this respect, we call on the population to continue to collaborate and support the armed forces, so that we can put out of action these enemies of peace who are worrying our populations », he concluded.
