Lubero April 9th, 2025(CPA)-Intervention by the government and humanitarian organizations to help the people of the Biena-Lubero health zone was requested on Wednesday in Lubero by civil society from the Manzia Biambwe grouping in Lubero territory, in North Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
« We are urgently requesting the intervention of national international organizations and even the government, to come to the aid of the Biena-Lubero zone, after a series of raids on certain health structures in the health zone, where the alarming cries of nurses are characterized by the non-payment of bills by patients of all kinds, and the stock of medicines is at the same time also in short supply. The very precarious security situation in the area is at the root of this, even though the nursing staff are doing their utmost to stay there », declared Achille Paluku, president of the local civil society, referring to the perpetual terrorist attacks in the area.
« This health zone has become a perpetual target for the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), who kill and loot civilian property. The humanitarian aid we are requesting will limit the damage, » he added. The Biena-Lubero health zone, where life is still precarious, has been the victim of Adf attacks for several months, resulting in the loss of human life, the temporary closure of hundreds of health structures and the massive displacement of populations to supposedly safer areas, health sources have informed us.
