Operation ‘One House, One Flag’: The Importance of the Flag Explained to the Residents of Kinshasa

Kinshasa, June 26th, 2025 (CPA).- The importance of the flag was explained on Thursday to the residents of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), by the Minister of Youth as part of the ‘One House, One Flag’ operation launched in Kasa-Vubu, a commune in the center of the Congolese capital.

« The national flag is the supreme symbol of unity, sovereignty and collective identity in the DRC. It embodies belonging to a nation, the memory of past sacrifices and the commitment of every citizen to build a common future in peace, dignity and cohesion, » said Noëlla Ayeganagato, Minister of Youth and Patriotic Awareness. ‘To respect and defend it is to honor our history and affirm our responsibility to our country,’ she added.

The Mayor, for his part, said that this activity was organized as part of the patriotic week leading up to Independence Day.

‘We wanted it to be a grassroots initiative to raise awareness among the population about their belonging to the homeland and to explain the colors of the national flag,’ said Phinnées Massombo, mayor of the municipality of Kasa-Vubu. He revealed that the color red represents the blood of martyrs, yellow represents the country’s wealth, blue represents peace and hope, and the star represents a bright future. The ‘One House, One Flag’ campaign invites every household to fly the national flag, a symbol of identity and pride, to showcase the colors of the DRC throughout the country.
