Kinshasa, July 2nd, 2025 (CPA).- Patrice Emery Lumumba’s ideology was considered a march towards the light of Pan-Africanism on Wednesday during a guided tour by the delegation from the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kinshasa on the sidelines of Lumumba’s centenary in the Democratic Republic of Congo. « The light here, perhaps simply symbolized by independence and liberation. Indeed, the countries were in darkness. Lumumba brought out and shone a light on the Congo. A light of revolution for the independence of Pan-Africanism, » said Joël Kenda, director of the Museum of Contemporary and Multimedia Art at the Limete interchange.
‘Lumumba, who became the light of Africa, said no to balkanization; the country should not be divided. Just as works of art are a culmination that allows the people to be together. Lumumba is painted in the midst of several works of art here in the Museum of Contemporary Art,’ he added. On this occasion, the delegation from Russia’s Lumumba University visited the exhibition hall of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Multimedia at the Kinshasa interchange, which houses several works of art that trace the journey of the late Patrice Emery Lumumba before, during and after independence. In addition, during this visit, the African Cultural Arts Centre showcased various paintings that sufficiently recount Lumumba’s history, in addition to books, films and other works. It should be noted that this activity was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony, a gesture of love from the Russian delegation at Lumumba’s mausoleum and also a gesture of cooperation between the Central African Cultural and Artistic Centre and Lumumba University in Moscow, Russia.
