Projet-145Territoires: A company confirms the resumption of work to the Tshopo executive board

Kisangani, April 18th, 2025 (CPA) – A private civil engineering company has told the governor of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s eastern Tshopo province that work has resumed on the 145 Project Territories (PDL-145T), after several months of interruption, CPA learns from an administrative source on Thursday. “Arche SARL, one of the civil engineering companies involved in the implementation of the Projet-145Territoires, had encountered certain constraints in the execution of the work. It has now returned to re-launch the work”, said Guy-Verlin Tshimanga, provincial program coordinator for the UNDP.

“This resumption comes after a period of suspension due in particular to insecurity and the inaccessibility of certain sites”, added the source. The company’s Administrative Director, Willy Paga Moshila, praised the efforts of Governor Paulin Lendongolia in stabilizing the region’s security, an essential condition for the resumption of work. “Thanks to the governor’s efforts, security conditions are now in place. We have resumed activities at several sites, notably Babingi, Beljika and Opala”, he asserted. He also cited the territories of Banalia, Bambesa and Mangi, close to Kisangani, where work has restarted.

Guy-Verlin Tshimanga also called for increased logistical support to ensure effective monitoring of the program, before praising the steadfast commitment of the governor, who chairs the PDL-145T technical monitoring committee in the province, despite limited resources. “The committee is awaiting support from the central government to strengthen monitoring mechanisms. The Governor inaugurated the first structure in Madula in May 2024, and twenty other receptions are expected between now and May 2025, subject to the delivery of additional equipment such as benches, beds and desks”, he explained. The province of Tshopo, the largest to emerge from the latest administrative division, represents a complex area of intervention for PDL-145T, due to its size and logistical challenges. According to the provincial coordinator, 88 of the 99 planned projects are currently underway, including 40 already completed by SAFRICAS. Financed entirely by the Congolese government, PDL-145T is being implemented in seven Tshopo territories with a total budget of 70 million US dollars. The UNDP is one of three executing agencies designated by the national authorities. ACP/
