Kinshasa, May 11th, 2025 (CPA) – The urgent application of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2773 remains essential for lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to an international lobbyist in an interview with the CPA on Saturday.
‘For a lasting solution to peace in the DRC, the urgent application of UN Security Council Resolution 2773 remains indispensable’, said Roland Ngoie. This resolution, he said, directly condemns Rwanda for its support for the M23 offensive in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and calls for the ‘immediate’ withdrawal of its troops and an end to its support for this rebellion. The resolution also calls on the M23 to cease hostilities and invites all parties to conclude a ceasefire.
Roland Ngoie recalled that, according to Charles Onana’s book on ‘The holocaust in Congo: the international community’s omerta’, the DRC has recorded more than 10 million deaths, at least 500,000 women raped, and children martyred and tortured – one of the worst crimes against humanity since 1945. ‘If the international community does not stop Paul Kagame’s madness, Central Africa will go up in flames’, he concluded.
