Kinshasa, May 7th, 2025 (CPA) – The Senate of the Democratic Republic of Congo adopted and validated the mandates of nine new senators from the provinces of Kwilu (south-west) and Nord-Ubangi (north), during a plenary session on Wednesday in the capital, Kinshasa. ‘The Senate’s Political, Administrative, Legal and Human Rights Committee, which had examined their files, proposed to validate the credentials and proclaim as senators the elected representatives of the provinces of Kwilu and Nord-Ubangi, as well as the first deputy of Senator Adolphe Lumanu Mulenda Bwana N’sefu, in accordance with the Constitution, the Senate’s rules of procedure and parliamentary practices and customs’, read a report from the committee. For the province of Kwilu, they are Mrs Bakiele Marianne, senators Itshiundala Asang Willy, Labila Nkalim Papy and Mabaya Gizi Jean Floribert. In North Ubangi province, the candidates are Bale Bila Basile, Kobanga Ngambila Michel, Mobutu Giala Kasa Albert Philippe and Ngbako Mbilisi Anastasie. Mr Lumanu Nyembo Hervé has replaced Senator Adolphe Lumanu, who has been called away to other duties. ‘The Plenary Assembly has validated their credentials. They are proclaimed elected senators in accordance with Congolese electoral law’, declared Sama Lukonde, President of the Senate, before presenting them to the plenary. Earlier, the President of the upper house of parliament had opened a brief debate on the committee’s report, focusing on the formal remarks made by the senators involved.ACP/
