Kinshasa, June 18th, 2025 (CPA) – Severe and binding measures have been taken by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Defense, in the case of the plundering of military estates in the province of Tshuapa (north-west) of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a press release consulted on Wednesday. ‘Faced with this situation, the Minister of Defense has reassured us that severe and binding measures will be taken to re-establish the demarcation of military domains and ensure their security, in the face of threats of plundering of areas reserved for the national army’, read a statement from the Ministry in charge of Defense.
The same document states that, during this itinerant mission, the deputy prime minister in charge of national defense and veterans, Guy Kabombo, visited the army’s various infrastructures, including Camp Ndongo, the military hospital and the officers’ mess. At the end of the visit, he promised to take their grievances to the Supreme Commander of the DRC Armed Forces (Fardc), Félix Tshisekedi, with a view to finding appropriate solutions.
Earlier, Guy Kabombo had chaired a meeting of the provincial security committee, with the aim of getting to grips with the various security concerns in the province. As soon as he arrived in Mbandaka in the province of Equateur, the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense, accompanied by 40 national deputies, held talks with military wives and traditional authorities as part of his itinerant mission to improve their living conditions and make the province safer.
