The future of Congolese music takes centre stage at a cultural fair   scheduled to take place in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, June 5th, 2025 (CPA).- The future of the Congolese music is the focus of the first edition of a cultural salon called ‘Kongo Music Expo’, which is scheduled to take place from June 17th to June 21st in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to a press release consulted on Thursday by CPA.

‘The first edition of Kongo Music Expo is a unique event dedicated to the richness, to the diversity and the future of Congolese music as well as African music. It will be held from June 17th to June 21st at the French Institute in Kinshasa,’ it is read in the press release signed by Christian Lepira, coordinator of the event. The document has specified that a series of activities will be on the programme, including live concerts, conferences, and meetings with artists, producers and key players in the Congolese and international music industry. The event aims to promote and structure the Congolese music industry.

In addition to concerts and showcases, Kongo Music Expo also includes Kongo Lab Music, a six-month artistic incubation programme aimed at supporting and professionalising young Congolese artists, with the overall ambition of strengthening and raising the profile of the Congolese music scene on a global scale, and revitalising the local economy linked to the cultural and creative industries.
